How Go Green Helps the Environment
Going green is more than just a trend; people want and expect sustainability and the demand is correspondingly high.
A recent study even came to the following conclusion:
- 68% of millennials have bought a product in the past 12 months that have social or environmental benefits.
- 87% of consumers have a more positive image of a company when it helps to solve social or environmental problems.
In short, consumers want sustainability, and you should also strive for sustainability.
Products such as energy-saving lamps or recyclable materials for takeaway meals are small gestures with which you can already make you more environmentally friendly. Use the creativity to brainstorm a list of short and long-term green goals.
A more conscious shift in consumer behaviour towards more organic and local products is currently taking place. People are increasingly buying organic food in supermarkets, which naturally also affects what food they want to eat in restaurants. That can be because it's healthier, greener, and tastier.
Find regional producers and agricultural markets and compare the costs between organic and local products - unless you find a producer who can offer you both. While natural may be desirable from a consumer perspective, it may not be the cheapest option for your business because geography, seasonality, and other factors you can't control affect prices.
